Stadium Update....

From Hutton's blog today…

MORE STADIUM STUFF

The Suit said there have already been more than $2 million in pledges. With the brochure going out, and with FAU officials starting to make the rounds of local businesses and big donors, there is hope that the financing comes together quickly.

They think they will need $2 million in cash and $8 million in pledges before they can go shopping for a bond to cover the $62 million cost.

They think this is doable, and would be a done deal if they get a stadium naming rights contract signed. They have had discussions with several businesses and are optimistic that it will be done in the next couple months.

UCF had broken ground before Bright House Networks signed up, so FAU could go that route, but they would prefer to have the naming rights locked up well before then.

UCF said their suites and club seats sold out in the first couple months, and they wished they had added more club seats and raised the price.

FAU listened, and went to 1,000 seats (UCF has 800), and are charging $1,750 per year (UCF charged $1,250).

Should know more in the next couple weeks once the brochures gets in the hands of potential donors.

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Re: Stadium Update....

Troy has 1,000 club seats (looks just like the one planned for FAU) and it's not only sold out but has a waiting list. I have been on it for three years.

FAU should build (or at least design) for 2,000 club seats and as many suites as possible. They will not be enough.

Re: Stadium Update....

I'm no stadium developer, but it seems like if UCF and Troy are lacking, and there is much higher demand than supply, we should be building more not less of the club and suites.  30+ suites, 2000+ club seats w/ a lounge.  If not right away, definitely have the ability and plan to allow for easy expansion of suites.  I assume the club seats will be under the shade thing…MORE.

People will buy it, FAU is a feel good story, and just walking around campus today I realized how different it already is from 2006.

Build a stadium to hold the team we want to be, not the team we already are.  Bigger, faster, stronger.. FAU Football!

Because of the Presidential debates, the campus looks AWESOME right now. All the lawns are manicured, there is no dirt in the medians, nearly everything has been painted, "Let's Go Owls" banners have been hung in the Student Union, new signs are up all over… iI'm not surprised that recruits are saying, "This is a beautiful campus."

Re: Stadium Update....

I agree, I wish we had debates all the time, it lights a fire under somebody's butt to make everything look even better.

And the new burrow looks great too, even if we do replace it with a bigger arena in the future, it looks great.

When we build a new basketball arena, will the old Burrow be a Big East-quality facility for volleyball? Or does that not matter?
