To Priority or not?

So we are getting closer now.

My group is mostlikely going to go priority level seating $250.00 donation plus tickets. I have to make a decesion on whether to pony up the $750.00 for my 3 seats or sit away from them but still tailgate.

For those that did, what was the "tipping" factor that pushed you to do it. I'm looking for a selling point to confince my wife about droping over a grand on tickets that used to cost me $300.00 or so.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

P.S. BOOZE is not factor, as neither my wife nor I are big drinkers. So the "lounge" is not a selling point.

Re: To Priority or not?

Tell her that everything you have is due to the education you received from FAU and that as a good alumnus, you feel it is your duty to give a little bit more.

My wife and I are going into the Premier Club.  There is nothing that will justify the cost as simply a football game.

For you, it is about being closer to your friends and giving a little extra to your university.

That is how and ONLY how programs are built.  Be a part of that.  In 20 years we can all say that we really helped build this program and take it to the next level.

We all wanted a new $70M stadium and now we have one…and now it is up to us to make a difference.  Or we can choose to not make a difference and make demands for a new basketball arena  :D

Shes the Alum, not me. I came on board when Howard Schnellenberger was hired.  ;D

I think the best angle will be to be part of something special, something that doesnt happen but once or twice in a life time. Shes still pissed off that I rank being at opening day for the first game ever of the Florida Marlins as the highlight of my life so far, even above Marriage and the Kids. I doubt I'll ever get out of that hole but its the truth.

THIS opeing may eclipse that especially since she will be with me. Ill try and parlay that into it. LOL

Ok, tell her, everything you have is because of HER education.  ;)

Re: To Priority or not?

You might suggest to her that this year is the first year and you want to give to the stadium.  Plus this is the year that will really determine how good your seats will be since you get to pick this year.  Next year the "picks" will probably not be as good as people will have their seats from this year next year, plus there will be more people next year and thus more competition for the better seats; i.e. priority seats next year will not be as "priority"!  Also suggest that if she's not happy this year with the situation and/or seats you'll just do the regular season tickets next year.  It will be harder to be successful with good seating choices going from regular seats to priority seating than vice-versa!

Re: To Priority or not?

That side of the stadium will have more shade.

Additionally, maybe cleaner restrooms, too?

Re: To Priority or not?

I think it all comes down to this…

There are 2 types of donors:

1) Those that donate $100 who try to get $1,000 worth of value out of the donation…

2) Those that donate $1,000 who are happy to get $100 worth of value and let the university gain the extra $900 in value.  That's why it is a donation.

When everyone gets to this realization, we are moving in the right direction.

Re: To Priority or not?

SOLD!

Gonna do it for one year and then see.

I used up a LOT of brownie points on this one, but I think once she see's the benefits of the shade, restrooms, lounge in case of rain, we'll be there for a while.

Winning arguement was the chance to be part of something "special" since these opportunities dont happen very often.

I am sending my form in today.
