For reals.

But, how does FIU's offense match up against our defense?

What kind of offense do they typically run - 3 wide out of the Pistol, 2 running backs single TE set Power I, 4 wide, zone read option (do they have a running QB)?

Seems we've been dropping Zyon Gilbert into the box a lot, leaving Jalen Young back to play deep center fielder covering both halves of the field (hence the high number of interceptions).

We need sacks desperately, and that usually starts with good downfield coverage.  Our DB's seem to be covering well - where are the QB sacks?  Should we blitz and stunt more?  Seems we give up the middle of the field a lot - between the deep zone or man to man break downs?

(Topics for everyone!)

OK just because you want sacks doesn't mean you start blitzing. We blitzed more than we have all year last week and we only has 1 sack and should have gotten a.few more. Blitzing just to blitz isnt smart IE Miss State lost the game because they just to blitz. We play an underneath man coverage 2 deep zone basically the Tampa two with changes. In this, like I have explained on the podcast every week we play a D that will give some completions on slants passes over the middle etc, but we do not give up big plays and challenge teams to go 10-13 plays to score and hope they make a mistake and with our DB's being so good at getting the ball it works.
Lane said after Marshall we didn't bother blitzing or even rushing 4 because he never gets sacked and we wanted to play coverage which yea he will hot some throws, but we forced some picks.

The La Tech QB did a nice job of extending some plays with his legs but he couldn't make the tight throw when it counted most times. You need understand that blitzing in an art and sometimes a blitz t makes the decisions easy for an avg QB
because if they see it and they check out they know they and single coverage and know where to go with the ball.

Dont care about shirt color, attendance, drink specials, etc

Do care that our boys show up, beat those losers and get our damn trophy back.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

Didn't go very far last time I tried it, but how about a roll call, how many you are bringing, and guess on the attendance?

I will be there with at least my 4 seats taken and my daughter in the student section.  I am trying to bring another family with us to get to a total of 8 or 9 in attendance.  I am guessing an announced crowd of over 20k (but 16-17k actually in the stadium).  I hope I am short on that number, but it doesn't sound like we should expect a ton of FIU people per you guys - especially after they just lost???

As for the game - we need to force some turnovers (like we have all season).  I saw several balls that while they would have required a great play, they should have been interceptions for us yesterday.  And of course it seemed like every time LA Tech put it on the ground it took an immediate bounce out of bounds.  Our D is not going to statistically wow most teams, but FIU has given up more first downs and more points than their opponents, and I think they are -6 in turnover margin for the season.  If those kinds of trends continue, I think FAU should handle their business just like they have been doing.  But the team has to stay focused and we have to show up and play.  I think the focus will be there - win this game and we lock-up the East division and home field for the championship!

I'm bringing my wife and kids, so 5 of us, plus I bought tickets for 6 coworkers and their families, so I should be able to get a total of 11 to the game.

Also the guy at the ticket office said they're expecting between 20 and 25k, and that my entire section (114) was filled up. He said that people have been calling a lot the last couple of days to buy tickets.

I will believe it when I see it.  The ticket department has failed miserably this season.  Need a new contractor or a new vision or both.  By my estimates to have 20 to 25k we will need to distribute 200k tickets for butts in seats.

17 year football season ticket holder, did not renew my b-ball season tix last year and no one called last year or this year to see if I had any interest in tickets.  Pathetic.  Someone needs to teach this group how to sell, even the absolute basics.
