PB Post sports coverage

Well, not only has Marcus Nelson been reassigned, even more amazingly, the Post has completely discontinued coverage of hockey and the Florida Panthers. The Panthers beat writer and blogger has been reassigned to the Dolphins.

Tough times… I'm surprised they chose to keep FAU coverage instead of the (pro) Panthers.

Re: PB Post sports coverage

I mentioned it in another thread, but if that paper gets any lighter, I'll be cancelling my subscription when it comes up for renewal.  They're moving a lot of content online, so if that the way they want it, then I'll read it online – for free.  I know times are tough there, but it's getting ridiculous.  Literally, the weekday paper is about half the size it used to be.  Not just the sports, either; news and editorials have taken a hit, too, and they've resorted to putting advertising on the front page, which is just plain tacky.

I hear the Sun Sentinel is getting pretty thin, too.

Re: PB Post sports coverage

Sounds like the PBP is going the way of the Boca Raton News.  I remember when that was actually a legit newspaper…I believe that it is now only 1 section.

The newspaper business in general is dying.  I guess the Post is dying faster then the others.

Newspaper in print might be in trouble, but the business isn't dying.

When you read your news on Yahoo, MSN or whatever, think about its source … Yahoo reporters? AOL's crack editorial crew?

Nope. Newspapers. That is what makes up most of the AP and the Internet news feeds. Without newspapers, you have a few videos of crashes and war on TV. Much of TV news is hacked from the newspapers.

Newspapers need to learn to stop giving away their product.
