UFC 61: Bitter Rivals

Hello newbie here, is anyone here a fan of UFC- Ultimate Fighting Championship? I must admit that I enjoy watching the show. As a fight fan it offers a different style on fighting and I think it'll continue to grow…looking forward that big event on July 8th!

Welcome to the board Mordock.
I have seen that before! It is amazing how they even survive in the cage! I watch it on occasions but I wouldn't say that I'm hooked. If I'm channel surfing and come across it I CANNOT turn the channel.. 8-)

Once again people are going for who they think is the popular one… Arlovski beats Sylvia and Ortiz beats Shamrock. I think its the other way around! Do you have any favorites with these match-ups?

No I just look at the action. Maybe I should pay closer attention.. :)

I like sylvia myself, after seeing his forearm break against Mir (I think) and still wanting to fight. The guy's an animal!
My money is on the Huntington Beach Bad boy, unless Shamrock is allowed to bring his walker into the ring.
I've also got Mir, Monson, and Edwards as winners.

I think this card should be great fun. I'm very interested in the top three matches on the card (not that I think the outcome is all that much in doubt – at least to my mind – in any of them), and I'm always game to watch Yves Edwards. I hope his match makes the show.

I have to agree to a degree. I don't necessarily buy all of Shamrock's crap about torn acl's last time, BUT, Ortiz did get beaten and humiliated by a 42 year old not too long ago!!

This will be a BRAWL and I can't wait.

TB, are you gonna come by??

I'm taking Silva also!

Well, I was right about Ortiz at least! He was getting ready to absolutely kill Shamrock when the fight stopped, it would have been cool to see a real beating but I understand why they stopped it.
The title fight was a really boring boxing match but the HWTs aren't usually that exciting anyway, no one ever wants to go to the ground, they just throw those lottery punches.

Edwards got a tough break with that cut on his head, he could have kept going but man was that guy bleeding!

Mir was in the worst shape I've ever seen him in, such a shame. Too soon after the accident I guess.

That was Mir's second fight after the accident. His first fight back was in April when a bunch of us caught the fight at Gatsby's, he was in much better shape then than he was Sat. night.

I agree about the championship match, boring as hell.

Ortiz v Shamrock - absolute ass kicking by Ortiz but I was mad as hell at how fast it was over after all of the hype the last 6 months.

Good time for the evening as a whole though.
