Where is the violation of Church and State here? I mean really, its a small tribute and the Cardinals are a organization that promotes its faith, and one person complains, they take off the small moument. PC in this country has gone to far. I am Brewers fan but there is nothing wrong with.

I'm usually in favor of these things but I don't think two symbols etched into the mound are that big of a deal, especially when one of them is actually a 6.

Besides, a baseball team (and stadium) is privately owned, right? If so, they technically have the right to, say, put up a giant crucifix in the outfield if they wanted to. Their money, their call.

But don't we now realize (especially us here at FAU with the whole Owlcatraz/GeoGroup fiasco) that the minority rules now in America. Just voice your disenting opinion over the will of the masses and you WILL win! What percentage of FAU fans and alumni were SO incensed at the stadium deal that it had to be pulled; 10%, 5%, 1%……)?

Exactly…and what would the Cards do if a pitcher went and just shoe scraped a cross into the mound before he pitches…they gonna fine him?

i found for peoples right's under the constitution, but ever since 2008, it seems like people are complaining more and more about things that Americans use to enjoy. Christmas, memorials to great players, stopping kids from going to a play of Charlie Brown's Christmas, atheists monuments on public grounds. Really next thing people will complain about players praying before a game or after a great play for pointing to the sky like that high school football player.

It's the vocal minority and silent majority.  It's a case where having it there is going to cause more problems than not having it there.
If this was important to the owners then they shouldn't cave in to one complaint. Apparently it wasn't important, so to avoid a seen, it was too easy to rub out the symbols in the dirt.

This country is getting more secular every day.

Re: St. Louis Cardinals Remove Religious Symbols From Pitcher’s Mound . . .

Gotta admit I hope more that a few pitchers scratch a cross in the dirt on THEIR mound if they want to. How many players cross themselves and point to the heavens after a great play - many do! And it is THEIR choice to express their own personal belief. But some in HS and college ball have gotten the "excessive" celebration penalty called on them.

Wonder if MLB or the teams then try to stop that! They have not so far but "Tebowing" has gotten lots of ridicule as of late. Glad the Pats had the balls to sign him anyhow even though I never thought of Tebow as being ,ore of a glorified hs QB at both UF and in the NFL, and being a Dolphin fan growing up I always and still do dislike the Pats!.
