Tailgating

This article is three years old but it's got some pretty funny stories about tailgating across the nation.

Central Michigan University isn't letting any cars leave the parking lot until the third quarter. Reduces congestion, the school says. Isn't that kidnapping?

Terrified mom: "Please let me go! My baby's climbed out onto the roof of my house!"
Cop: "Sorry, ma'am. Still 1:48 left in the half."

Also, check out this new tailgating game called Basketpong:

$179.99 for the set though… could make an FAU one for about $40 I'd imagine… still, interesting idea.

Re: Tailgating

As someone that sat through a 1-11 season I can vouch for the importance of this great American tradition, it's the only thing that helped me survive last year.

Fau is "pretty" good about tailgating. I think the 4 hour rule is a little weak though.

Re: Tailgating

I agree, do away with the 4 hour rule. When we went to Austin, there were guys hanging out around the corner from the stadium drinking and tailgating 2 days before! A "few" shiner bocks later and we have them doing the owl fingers lol

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Re: Tailgating

I dont mind Tailgating but to be honest now that Im in the Priority Club I dont really plan on doing it anymore.

I LOVED last year gettting into the Stadium around 2PM for a 4PM game, ordering a Yuenglin on draft, and sitting on those couches as the breeze just whistled thru the outdoor lounge.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

Correct, you can enter the stadium and go up to the Priority outdoor lounge. Or your seats for that matter. There is a GREAT breeze blowing thru thier and it is very relaxing. You can get up and watch the teams warmup or just hang out.

Re: Tailgating

4 hours before the game is a joke. Thankfully I'm going to live in IVA this next school year, so I plan to tailgate all day for Wagner and FIU as IVA has BBQ pits, benches, and a sand vball court  ;D Try to stop me FAU PD

Re: Tailgating

I have to build an FAU basket pong, it will go nicely with the matching cornhole boards.  I agree with the other posters as well, the one thing FAU needs to change for this season is to abandon the stupid 4 hr max tailgate rule, and also allow some after game tailgating, but we can work on that next year.

This, to me, is more important than the four hours prior time.  I like to come out, fire up the grill, have a beer and a few brats and just kick it.  Our group did it almost every game at Lockhart, it's a shame the FAU PD won't give in for that.

Re: Tailgating

I wonder how Ohio St. handles the tailgating up there with 100K fans at seven home games? Maybe our new AD will enlighten us to help build this fan base here. The games and tailgating have to be fun to have people WANT TO come back!

I did just find this on the Ohio St. gameday site;

"Guests without football parking permits who are interested in setting up a tailgate should plan to set up those tailgates in any Day-of-Game Parking Lot. Day-of-game parking spaces are available at 6am on the day of the game on a first-come, first-served basis."

I also read the alcohol or open containers of are not allowed. Now if this is enforced I don't know.

"No person shall have in the person's possession an opened container of beer or intoxicating liquor in any public place."

But 6 a.m.? Wow!
