Men's Basketball Announces Schedule
Owls to face impressive non-conference schedule.

Sept. 22, 2004

2004-05 Schedule

Florida Atlantic University men's basketball coach, Sidney Green, has announced the team's 2004-05 schedule. It includes two exhibition games followed by 27 regular season contests. Among the regular season games are seven non-conference and 20 Atlantic Sun Conference games.

The Owls take on Barry and Florida Tech in exhibition games, November 6 and 11, respectively. Both are at FAU Gymnasium. The team begins its regular season with three straight road games against in-state teams. The first is FAU's season opener November 19 at Florida International. Four days later, the Owls will face Florida in a game that features Green's son, Taurean, who begins his freshman season with the Gators this year. On November 29, FAU plays at Miami as the two teams meet for the 13th consecutive season. Both the Florida and Miami games are scheduled to air live on Sunshine Network.

FAU's home opener features an A-Sun showdown with Gardner-Webb December 4. The Owls will not play for 10 days before taking on Campbell December 14.

A return to non-conference play takes place in Nevada when FAU plays in the Dodge Holiday Classic at the University of Nevada, December 17-18. FAU faces Nevada in the opening round and will take on either Idaho State or Eastern Illinois December 18. FAU rounds out its non-conference slate at Green's alma mater, UNLV, December 22.

The remainder of FAU's 18 games are against A-Sun competition. Once again, the conference is comprised of 11 teams in a one-division format. The top eight teams after the regular season will advance to the A-Sun Tournament, March 3-5, in Nashville, TN.

"We certainly have one of the most challenging non-conference schedules in the six year's I've been here," said Green. "Both Florida and Nevada are NCAA teams from a year ago while UNLV played in the NIT. However, I think with the core of players we have returning and those we have added, we will be able to have a very successful season."

Several of the team's road games and all post-season games will continue to air on WLVJ 1040-AM. For ticket information, call 1-(866) FAU-OWLS.
