hello I will be attending FAU in the fall, I was going to try to walk on to the football team but due to a severe back injury in the offseason I will be unable to do that. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how I can get as close to the team as possible, seeing that I would like to coach after college.

Last year I walked in to the Oxley Center and asked if there was anything I can do... Thats proabably your best bet. after that I got to know alot of guys in the department including coach. There always looking for people that will do stuff for free, after a little while they started paying me. Regardless I was on the field for every home game and a friend of mine even traveled with them to the Troy game.

bighooter have a good point about "free" help. Let them know that you wanted to try out as a walk-on and may help your chances too.
