2005 Sun Belt OOC Matchups

Post

The new "12-game" NCAA ruling is resulting in quite a few OOC matchups.

Someone might want to due a "futures" research and indicate which of these are "money games" and which are home-and-home. This is this fall only.

Any corrections appreciated. The projected standings are from:

Cal Poly (I-AA) is a desperately scheduled replacement for Kansas State, which chickened out of its contract to play at Troy to open the season.

KSU's pullout came in September 2004, a few days after Troy stunned then-No. 17 Missouri and Brad Smith at Movie Gallery Stadium.

Yea - but it works both ways.

3-4 years ago, Troy (legally) cancelled an away game with Maryland (up there) and paid the $150000 cancellation fee so they could schedule K-State.

Maryland had a last minute schedule replacement with Wofford (Div-1AA).

Troy canceled that game in a package deal that allowed it to play Nebraska, among other teams (if I remember correctly), and get two national TV games (one of which was to be Kansas State).

Troy traded up.

Kansas State, traded down, intentionally dumbing down its schedule with a weak I-AA team, just days after Troy defeated then No. 17-Missouri in Troy.

Interesting coincidence?

Kansas, interestingly, just lost a home game with Army, which bought out of its contract to play in Manhattan. Kansas had to fill with another I-AA team.
