For what ever grief FAU has gotten for not having a frightening mascot with a fierce reputation, today that mascot plays the Gophers.

Later on in the season they will play the Cardinals.

Maybe in the future this less than frightening mascot can play other very successful programs like the Sooners, the Corn Huskers, the Horned Toads, the Volunteers or the Aggies.

Does UC-Irvine have a football team? They're mascot is the ant-eaters.

Probably the most high profile team with a mascot that is non ferocious is Virginia Tech. The Hokies, which is a turkey.

I would have included them in my first post but didn't think of it at the time.

Then there is the Terrapins (turtle), Tar Heels (?) the Orangemen (Syracuse), the Ducks.

Is it just me or did their gopher looking like uncle joey's puppet on full house..
