I'm new to the board but I have been following FAU football since I came to FAU in the fall of 03. I went to the game on Saturday and the one thing that I noticed was that our defense plays very soft coverages and rarely blitzes. I think I might have seen them blitz once in 3 quarters. On 3rd down, I think we have to put more pressure on their quarterback. He had all day to throw and was converting 3rd and longs all day. Another thing is that the safties will come up to the line and show blitz but drop back even before the quarterback changes the play. Let me know what you all think, but personally I would like to see more blitzing.

Just as long as they don't run the ball…for some reason we can't stop anyone from running against us. If we go up against strong passing teams who can't run…I like our chances.
Arkansas State is 17th in the nation in rushing.
Antonio Warren has only seen 11 quarters of action but has 524 yards net rushing on 60 carries (8.73 average per carry). He had 143 yards against FIU in 2 quarters and 132 in 3 quarters against Oklahoma State. Warren would be 7th in nation in rushing right now but he hasn't played enough games to ranked nationally.
Shemar Bracey has 495 net yards on 70 carries for an average of 7.01 per carry backing up Warren and starting in place of him against ULM and ULL. He has enough appearances to be ranked and is 43rd in the nation.

I'm sure they(coaches) have already gone over mental mistakes and tackling responsibilities.

I said in another post where I got a chance to see Warren vs FIU. We can't let him get into the second level vs our LB's. Then it gets scary with his cuts!

Let's hope so! MTSU cut through them like a hot knife through butter. I only hope our "road" Owls come out to play.
