It felt good to be the team doing the whipping rather than getting whipped.
Rain definitely affected attendance. Hope it stays dry throughout next Wednesday.
Long snapper and placeholder need some work together.
OLine looked good.
Defense looked good but made some mistakes on the QB keepers and screens.
Good to see more FAU shirts and hats on students and fans.

I had estimated the crowd at around 10,000.
The PrOwlers were great in firing up the students and others. That groups needs to grow and get stronger.
The student announcer could be hokey but was fun most of the time. The main announcer should act more like him and get the rest of the crowd involved more - especially the eastern press box section that was filled.
The crowd got loud when it counted. The band was larger and better and really kept the beat going throughout the game. The new "Go Owls" cheer/song was great, and the halftime show was very entertaining, as evidenced by the crowd applause.
Lockhart now has a sort of jumbotron - at least with legible graphics and type. It needs to show the words to all songs and cheers as they are done.
The cheerleaders and dancers - WOW! The group down by the student end zone really helped fire up the crowd.
The arrest of the guy who jumped into the end zone to do the push-ups (after a TD) with the cheerleaders was just wrong! The police (way more were there than necessary) were just too into themselves.
As for cracking down on the tailgaters, it didn't seem to stop the groups we saw chugging from kegs and the like. There must have been 500 or more people in the parking lot partying during the game.
Could any stadium have a worse mudhole of a parking lot than Lockhart? Geeze!
As far as the weather: It was very nice through the entire game. Those who skipped it because of the weather missed out on a great time.
The drive down there was horrendous - traffic jams all the way from north of Boca.
Why was this game played on Thursday, BTW? Certainly not for TV. Does FAU not understand that thousands of potential fans are stuck at home, work, with children and family activities and not available on Thursday nights. Many children can't stay out that late. Thursday nights just limit attendance, and for what? Barely AM radio coverage?
On the way to the game, we tried and tried to find the FAU station. Finally, as the game began we found it on 640-AM. No pre-game at all? Can't we have better coverage than this? And how are the fans in northern Palm Beaches and the Treasure Coast to follow this game?
FAU needs to stop being so short-sighted and simulcast the games on the 'Net at no cost. Build a fan base before you worry about collecting a few pennies from people for 'Net listening fees. Get sponsors to support the Netcast, just like radio stations do.
I'm looking forward to next Wednesday. Everyone needs to bring two friends!
My Game week sign (from last year) is out on my lawn.

It was played on a Thursday because next week we play on Wednesday. So it was sort of done for TV purposes. If we didn't play yesterday, we could not have played the game at all. So it sucks because it hurts attendance and it was a hassle to get there due to traffic, but there was a good reason for it. At least next week the game is at 7:30pm, and the extra half hour is huge in terms of traffic.
As for the radio, there was a pre-game show that started 15 minutes before the game.

All in all it was a good way to start the home season despite the bad weather attendance. They have a lot of work to do before Wednesday and I hope the weather holds out for it. It would be nice to hit 20,000 for the TV game but I know its wishful thinking. I'll have my 8 tickets used for it. Go Owls!
Oh…What do you guys think of the new "improved" mascot? I don't know if it's just becuase I don't like change but I kind of liked the original "Owlie".

I agree, the new one should be a female and return "Owlie" as the male.
GO OWLS!

Marching band was great and I love the uniforms… it gave me a flashback to our original Hawaian shirt uniform… remember those LOL
The prOWLers definetly made a presence and sparked up the student section…
I don't know why everyone was detered by the rain… there is nothing better than playing and watching football in the rain UG UG UG…

Except for the first few minutes, there was no rain. It was even a bit cooler than normal.
I like the new mascot.
Did I mention that the student section and band need to be moved to the "visitor" side? That would get the students closer to the action, would make them louder in the stadium (noise wouldn't go right out the other end zone), would affect the visiting team, and last but not least, would show some people on that side in the pictures and video. You know, that's the side that will be in every shot during next week's TV game! TV rarely shows the press box side.
There is plenty of room for the students on that side. It's not like that size has ever been packed.

I know :-/…I've been slacking pretty bad…I had intentions of totally revamping it for this season my "life" crap has been getting in the way….It takes a fair amount of time to keep it updated and I found that most people were just using the site as a jumpoff to the OwlsNest (not that there's anything wrong with that :-) ) To be honest, you are the first person to say anything but I'll go ahead and at least get it up to date with current info since you mentioned it and my better half got some great pictures of the game last night. Cheers ;D
