So, how will the team respond after two very disappointing losses, in game that we had chances to steal a victory as underdogs. At this point last year the team folded their tents, put-out the camp fires and took a trip down river, to a destination called next season.
This however is a different season, different scenario and this team still has something to prove to itself. To finish the season with two very strong games could give the guys much needed confidence going into the off-season.
UNT is a struggling team and we need to take care of business and make sure we do not allow this team to gain any type of momentum or confidence early.
On Defensive:
Stopping the run will be the theme of the day, even though UNT may try to use a spread offense, something they are not comfortable with and should not be lethal like the offenses that we have already face and pretty much shut-down. The defense should have a very good day and could possibly have a chance to picth their second egg of the season.
On Offense:
The key here AGAIN, protect the football. Rusty has become more comfartable under center and making progress. He is throwing the ball better then he has all season and his confidence is growing, a plus for the offense. This could be a break-out game for the offense with Simeon, McGahee & Holley getting big games thru the air & Pierre could possibly have his best game of the season on the ground.
Special Teams:
Even though this group has struggled for the most part, they don't have to be spectacular or great on Saturday, but have a good solid game. Leroy has found his confidence and is finding the uprights on a regular bases.
This is a game that the Owls should be able to take control of early and hopefully are able to finish, we have not been the type of team that can come back from behind, all efforts have fallin short, so they key to this game - a strong and quick start and finish drives.
I believe that the camp fires are still burning and the tents are still up, so the Owls will be ready on Saturday to claw another victory.
Prediction: UNT 0 FAU 28

They have found a little swagger as of late with the "Green Team" - emulating the Chinese Bandits of LSU from the late 50's…however, this is NOT the same caliber type of athlete…
We should have a nice game overall…HOPEFULLY the run game is more effective…

Pregame Thoughts - UNT vs FAU
To make matters worse, every morning this week Troy University has been advertising on ABC at 7:00 every morning ! In Florida !!!! Sure would like to see some FAU advertisements up here in the Tampa area.
This week is the battle of the 4th placers - 1 will hopefully will move to the top 3 - would like to finish at least in the top 3 of the SBC - that would be a big accomplishment !
The rushing game has not been too good this year. We had 1 good rushing game but we can't count totally on Pierre, especially when he is being shut down like last week. Give the others a look. What happened to Sanchez ?? Let's practice the run this week and keep it on the ground. UNT has the leading interceptor ! Open those holes O-line.
Passing - we need practice catching the ball and would like to stay # 1 in passing yards but we may need to stick to the ground this week.
Defense - please tackle this week. Corey Small - just a few more interceptions and you will be # 1 in the SBC. Defensive backs -
they're going to be busy this week so I hope they had plenty of rest this week
Referrees - put your glasses on !
We stop the Greenie's Thomas and Quinn and we have the game in the bag.
FAU 21
NT - 13
GO OWLS !!!

Last week against Troy, the running game was non-existant, Pierre need to stop jigging, all he manages to do is become indecisive. Gaining one yard per cary when running on first down is horrible and we do need to improve on that today.
Tackling has been much better as of late, there where some let downs, in the MTSU & Troy game on a handful on plays in both of the games that truely help define the outcome of those games for the defense.
Before the start of the season I only had us winning three or four conference game (3-4 or 4-3 record in SB play) and we are pretty much in reach of that now. However, we are in a much better position as a team then I imagined as well. If the team finishes off the season with two victories, then I say we had a great season, setting us up for a potential break-out season next year.

They were also featured on CSS…a half hour show…
Bottom line unfortunately in mainstream sports is if you win, they cover you…if you dont…well, they dont…unless you pay for it in the form of a coaches show…
Why dont we have one?
