It will be interesting to see how the chips fall for free agency.

For guys who are skill position players speed can get them to the next level in a hurry. Both guys drafted from FIU showed great speed in their workouts leading up to the draft. That is the key for players from smaller schools.
When comparing FAU and FIU, I think FIU has more talent at the skill positions and more overall speed. However, a trend for FAU has been to take guys who are undersized, but who have great heart and determination. That can lead to wins at the college level, but doesn't necessarily translate to the pros. However, as we have seen guys like Allen and Laz can get picked up as free agents and at least have an opportunity at the next level.

The point that you bring up is interesting because it seems that offensive linemen are the guys that really need the extra time in college. An extra year would have really helped him in terms of physical development as well as development as a player.

Interesting thoughts you bring up, and may very well be true. Another point, which can't be disputed, is the leadership and coaching that Howard S. brings to the table. I mean, he has been there at the top…he knows how to coach a winner.

You are right, we can't discount what Schnellenberger brings to FAU. He knows how to recruit and how to coach. I think that is why he isn't afraid to take guys that might lack some of the physical attributes that most D-1 players have. He isn't afraid to take guys that are undersized and coach them up. That might be why FAU has won most games against FIU despite FIU having more speed and "more talent."

It think that getting the first players drafted is the toughest part after that, teams won't think they are taking as much of a risk drafting players from smaller schools, especially if the players preform well - Ill. St. seems to always have one or two players every year that gets drafted.
Laz could have still been a Colt, if he could have stayed healty, just imagine he could have been the first Owl with a Super Bowl Ring. He has been a bit unlucky so far as a pro, but has been given a second chance playing over in europe and making the most of it.
Plus, the more players that get drafted from teams from the Sun-Belt, the more respect we get in general as a conference.

, C-Hill would have been our first player to be drafted, but he blew that chance once he got kick-off the team. .
I don't remember what would have been C-Hills last season if things had gone different. That would have been great had he stayed out of trouble and got drafted. We had a 5 game win streak going and lost the game after he was dismissed.
