FAU will be the only university in Florida to have a Prometric testing center on campus. I am familiar with these. Almost all licensing and certification exams now are done at these centers on computers.

This is great. Now FAU accounting and other students can take their certification exams right on campus. FAU has one of the highest passing rates for the CPA exam in the country. Having a testing facility on campus might make the program all that more attractive. Having sat for the CPA exam, I can honestly say that being somewhere familiar can take away some of the test jitters.

This might make a little revenue for the university also.

FAU Opens New Testing Center
South Florida Residents Now Have Easy Access to Computer-Based Exams

BOCA RATON, FL (May 30, 2007) ? Florida Atlantic University students, as well as South Florida residents, now have easy access to computer-based exams such as the GRE, MCAT and Praxis. FAU is the only university in Florida to now have a Prometric Test Center. The center is located in FAU?s Student Support Services building, Room 210, Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road.

?This is a great venture for Florida Atlantic University,? said Theresa Boddie, assistant director of testing and evaluation at FAU. ?Especially with the new joint medical program with the University of Miami, and other new programs we?re offering at the university, it enables students to take all of their higher education exams right here on campus.?

The 19-seat Prometric testing site is one of the largest in the state of Florida. The Testing and Evaluation Center alsohas four other non-Prometric computer-based testing laboratories that have 62 computers for other testing programs. The center also offers the LSAT for law school candidates and the ACT for local high school students applying for college in a non-computerized format.

?Many of the Prometric tests are in areas that require licensure at various levels of expertise, such as the medical and dental boards, CPA exams and licensure in the field of architecture,? said Dr. Lola Kerlin, director of testing and evaluation at FAU. ?Before we opened the center here, the closest center was in Coral Springs or Davie. The closest one to the north of us is in Orlando.?

FAU?s Prometric Test Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some Saturday appointments also are available. Candidates must register for Prometric tests online at

I've had to go to the Prometric sites for the medical boards, its a good location and with the med school it will be a huge help for the medical students at FAU, and Nova Southeastern University.
