''If a student submits less than a 2.6, even if they have a high standardized test score, we will put aside their application and ask them to submit the next semester's grade,'' Armstrong said. ``We will recommend that those students start at the community college because they will have a better chance there.''
''For a large group of students who turn in high standardized test scores but have not done well in high school, they are bright and have the necessary analytical tools, but don't have the maturation and motivation to succeed in universities,'' Armstrong said. ``These are student who, even though they are capable, didn't do anything in high school, and they tend to not do well in the university.''
''We have to increase the quality of the first-time-in-college students,'' FAU trustee Nancy Blosser said at a September meeting, according to the Palm Beach Post. ``I don't think we should hesitate at jacking the requirements up a little bit.''

If we can get past all the scandles, it looks FAU really wants to be a 1st choice university. If you get turned down by UF, you might not make it here either.
It's all up in the air, really. There are people who get turned down by FAU that get into UCF.
What you're finding now is a lot of people who ordinarily would have gone to UF are now at FAU because they feel like UF is "so out of their league." They self-select and FAU benefits.
FAU could continue to benefit by developing an Honors program on the Boca campus.

The designated honors college is on the Jupiter Campus though.

Correct, however, there is a University Scholars program already on the Boca campus that could be expanded (they also could build a University Scholars-only dormitory on the Boca campus). Also, some students at the Honors College have expressed the desire to have more traditional campus trappings and so FAU was considering a small Honors program at the Boca campus. I guess they never went forward with it, though again the US program could expand and be substantial here in Boca.

Yeah, the boca honors program is the university scholars program. I think they would just need to expand the scholars program because it is very much like the honors program at UF, in that you take honors seminars instead of some of the humanities classes. The best part about it which I didn't find out until I was in it is that you get to sign up for classes the very first day registration opens with the athletes so you get exactly the classes you want. That alone is a good selling point. Dorms for the US program would be cool too just don't see that happening soon.
I was invited to the honors college in Jupiter and went to the orientation but that program is retarded. You have to get a liberal arts degree with a concentration in what you want. You have to, no matter what, go to graduate school which most honors students do anyways but it offers you no options whatsoever.
