When I was at FAU, 1999-2003, when budget cuts, class cuts, teacher cuts were going on all the blame went directly on athletics and how expensive they are.

I hope students have graduated from that belief.

Some people have said, "Why are we talking about Innovation Villages and Stadiums when we can't even have summer classes?" but nothing about the athletic fee, I don't think. I don't think anyone's going to complain about our football team, for instance, because of the bowl win and being the only team in Florida to do that. The pride makes up for it.

Yeah, good then.  I remember taking people on as they said "we don't need a football team" in my various classes.
