Star-Telegram.com reports that
"Florida Atlantic expects answers from two potential naming-rights sponsors by summer’s end, one for $30 million and another for $12 million. If both deliver, FAU will open a 30,000-seat stadium in 2010, coach Howard Schnellenberger said.
"We’re 85 percent on it coming out positively for us," he said."

Also, here is where Schnellenberger quoted the stadium financing as a "Done Deal!"
Sun Sentinel's Ted Hutton "asked The Voice if today's meeting was a bit premature, since the money for the new stadium had not been lined up.
"The money is a done deal. You think we would sit through this if it wasn't?" was the reply.
Now, that is Howard The Eternal Optimist talking, but hopefully he is right."

Go FAU!!
And thanks Ted for keeping us updated!

Reading over some recent news it appears that FAU's stadium is a "done deal" according to Schnellenberger and now we have some dollar amounts to add to that seemingly out-of-nowhere enthusiasm!

Yep dude, we know! ;D It's awesome!
But yeah, you should visit the site more often! We're on top of everything!
For instance, here's the most recent article from Ted:
New plan may fund stadium - Topix
…suggesting that they're either going to sell the developing rights to the dorms or they're going to get money from the naming rights. I kinda hope it's the latter since the developing rights could lead to high dorm rates…

pursue the naming rights for $1 million/year over 20 years
AND
sell the developing rights to the dorms for $12-14 million

I'm not trying to be negative here everyone but it's not a done deal until the check has been cashed…just because they are meeting to go over the final details does not make this a signed contract. And until we see handshakes and hugs on camera and an OFFICIAL announcement…don't get too excited.
Agreed.
While exciting, we all know that deals can go south even at the last minute.
Until that big fake check is in HS and FB's hands, it is not a done deal.
However it looks like there are deals now for developmental rights that will secure the fundage needed to start. Either way I feel VERY optimistic about the 2010 date now. See you all in BOCA against Michigan State! Cant wait.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

Wow, it was worse that I thought – only $3M raised so far. Sounds like they're planning to use the $12M from the dorm development to pay for the stadium. Can they do that?
