next week, ESPN kicks off its annual Jimmy V Week, in honor of the V Foundation for Cancer Research, the organization named after former NC State coaching legend Jimmy Valvano

Coach V lost his life to a battle with cancer on April 28, 1993 at age 47

his legacy lives on through the V Foundation, ESPN and its bigger supporter and advocate, Dick Vitale

ESPN runs the Jimmy V Week every year with a mini-tournament at MSG and raises money for the V Foundation and cancer research as a whole
