MotorCity Bowl/ Detroit Information
Just thought I would give some information for the FAU fan's making the trip.
First, here are some clips of Central Michigan (if your not familiar with them, quality is poor for the first two):
Second,
Hotel Information, alot of people stay at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center (Downtown Detroit Hotel: Introducing Detroit Marriott at The Renaissance Center) which is a short walk to Ford Field, or alternatively you could take the people mover. (http://www.thepeoplemover.com/) The Detroit Marriott usually runs a special for the MotorCity Bowl, the rate last year was $99 a room (Double Beds). I would suspect that they would do the same this year, I will update this if/when it becomes official.
Third:
For other attractions (including Casino's) check out: Metro Detroit - Tourism and Travel | VisitDetroit.com - VisitDetroit.com
Any Questions, feel free to ask!

**CHIPFAN UPDATE**
There are some really good places to gather before the game in downtown Detroit. Just keep in mind the closer to the stadium (Ford Field) you get, the more crowded the bars become.
Two places I would recommend, both within an easy walk to the field;
Detroit Beer Co. Detroit Beer Company Home Page
HockeyTown Cafe WELCOME TO HOCKEYTOWN CAFE
Also within easy and safe walking distance is Greektown, with many restaurants and a few casinos.
The weather will most likely be very cold (20-30 degrees), and since Detroit sits on the Detroit River, it gets quite damp, adding to the chill. Don't worry about wearing too many clothes!
Ford Field is a great place for football. Seating is excellent and there should be a very good crowd…pro CMU most likely, but all the CMU fans are hospitable. Have a great time if you go, and good luck.
Hotel Update
If you use Priceline.com and "name your own price" you can great rates. Results may vary. The following options resulted in the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center: Downtown Detroit, 3 1/2 stars for $65. The following options resulted in the Courtyard by Marriott: Downtown Detroit, 3 stars for $60. Both of these hotels are close to Ford Field.

That place is going to be a CMU hornet's nest….it will be great to stick it to them on their turf.
Well… Middle Tennessee State thought the same thing in 2006. We ended up winning 31-14.
