The Troy/Southern Miss game was the least watched bowl game (1.3 million) of the 32 network tv or ESPN games, and the FAU game viewership more than doubled that of the USF Memphis Game (1.66 million).

TV Ratings For Bowl games (FAU 3.5 Million Viewers)

Wow!  That says it all!  The TV market in South Florida helps us big time–that was one of the big draws of choosing FAU over competing schools!  What do you think they would have had if ASU was CMU's opponent?????  I'm sure it would have been less than 2 million?

Looking at some of the Bowls we be out, not too shabby!

On a side note:

Drop the NFL Network from consideration moving forward…that's terrible.

That is really good. Look at some of the schools that come in below the MCB:

Arizona, BYU, Kansas, Minnesota, Maryland, Rutgers

I mentioned this last year. I emailed the National Football Foundation for the TV Ratings from last years New Orleans Bowl. I still have the PDF report I was sent. If I knew how to make it accessable on the web I would. If anyone wants to see it, I can email it.  Again, this is last years analysis of all the ESPN football games by households and # of viewers.
Anyway, last year The NOB had 2,127,122 viewers. A million more than this year's NOB. Thats amazing.

Awesome.

For those that say TV doesn't matter….

Marty Duvall, now a junior, was a freshman in 2006 and lived on the floor I was an RA for. He later ended up becoming my fraternity brother.

Anyway… I asked him why he moved from Minnesota to Fla to go to school.. and why FAU?  He said "because I saw FAU playing Minnesota on ESPN and saw a commercial with palm trees. Then I checked out the web site… and here I am."

And that's the year Maroney ran all over us and Minny beat us by a bunch.

True but I have to wonder how the viewership broke down… for instance, how many watched in Michigan?

You know what I mean?

I'm sure a lot of people in Florida watched. I know when I did, I saw a lot of people there from CMU. If there were a lot of people in the stands, imagine how many more watched it on TV.
