Practice Report & Vids 04-08-09

Wow, all i can say is PICTURE PERFECT South Florida day…not a cloud in the sky…72' and absolutely georgous…

eat your heart out CMU defects…

Anyway here's some goods from today…good news is no body got hurt today…bad news is here is the current injury list from Monday courtesy of HS:

Polo :  "He got hit in the butt…i don't know what the result of the x-ray was…when we know we'll let you know."

McKintosh:  "Got hit in the head last practice."

Ouch!

But:

Jarvis Givens (center) was back at it…listening to his new Coach intently…….

He is wearing a brace, and is favoring the knee slightly, but HS said he was not on the DL…so that is encouraging after last weekends scary sight of being escorted off the field by the training staff…

The offensive line was working on some pulll drills...FAU's largest lineman, Carl Spitale coming at ya...with this guy leading the way out front, i like our chances ;D

Another of FAU's promising but young, linemen, #78 Troy Niblack, was working the same drill from the opposite end..although someone forgot thier assignment:

Alfred Morris continues to make a strong case for placing him at starting tailback...and by the looks of things, he might have sewed it up at this point; as he was practicing with the first team all day...

Still having a hard time wrapping him up on this play...as Big Carl Spitale leads the way:

Rusty was taking more snaps today that last week it seemed...

A nice throw down the sidelines in 7 on 7 drills to Gent...nice pass!

After VanCamp, the appearant third string QB is Kooi...i spent some time watching both Wilbert and Kooi...especially their footwork, arm strength, and delivery motion...arm strength is good for both of them...delivery was about the same as well...but Wilbert appears a bit more "choppy" when dropping back...Kooi, on the other hand, is more "fluid", showing solid foot work in his drops...

My money is on Kooi if the call ever comes this season...but let's Hope not unless it's a third quarter 45-0 FAU lead!

Now here's an interesting match up...Harmon vs Pattee...you know HS loves to put the TE in a match-up advantage against a LB...and in this case, we have a hightly touted LB recruit, versus a once no name TE...so, who wins?

Yeah, that's Pattee on the ground as Harmon races down the field.......

My money's on Kooi too which is weird to say because he's too damn skinny.

But he can make the best of bad situations and he got a lot of time with the scout team last year so I think they're building confidence in him.

Neither Wilbert or Kooi are really ready though. They're still under/overthrowing too often.
