There is strong speculation that he will verbally committ to the Owls this weekend.
The signing period begins next Wednesday, April 15th, at which time recruits can officially committ to Universities by signing a "Letter of Intent".

"Simpson had an offer from Virginia Tech on the table but left it there. Blevins said he danced around the desk of Hokies coach Seth Greenberg when the offer was made, but Simpson stalled.
“He said he had to talk to his mother, first,” Blevins said.
By the time Simpson decided, Virginia Tech had moved on."
ESPN Grading:
"August, 2008: Demonte didn't have a great summer and was a disappointment to many who came to watch him play. He has the ability to be a solid inside force but lacks focus and can easily be distracted from his game. He lacks power and explosion on his inside moves, but can knock down the mid-range jumper and has great size."
He is considered by some to be somewhat of a project at the migh major (well above SBC) level given the competition there…others say he can flat out play…but, you know how that goes…only a Coach can truly evaluate this and it has alot to do with system they will play in etc, after HS…Given his documented track record, and ability to mold players, i like MJ's judgement - period…afterall, Patrick Ewing was a "project" and we all know how that went…more info if interested:
- Ranked #9 overall prospect in Tennessee
- Knocked down 12 of 14 from the field and finished with 25 points against National Powerhouse Oak Hill Academy

Two guys have had ACC interest that have played for the Owls…the first was PG Derek Jackson - a BCC transfer…the second was Cedric Peoples. Both turned out to be very productive players for us and are listed amongst FAU record holders at their respective positions…ironically, for Peoples, who played the same position, the interest was also from VA Tech.
I Hope we get him…….
