Practice Pics, Vids, and Report 04-15-09

Post

Afternoon…

Soggy and suana like…….

Rained at 4:00PM and that sent the fans away in droves…

But there was some action inside to report…Director's Club meeting in the Tom Oxley Founder's Lounge…couldn't drum up any news on the stadium…was told this is a "Scholarship" meeting between the recipients and their sponsors…

Although every Stadium mock up lined the room…anyway, some tastey grub aroma's filled the air…

This guy is really popular right about now as the "beverages" were scheduled to start to flow at 5:30PM…

Back out on the field we had a brief skirmish between  Malik Eugene and Jamari Grant...not sure what the "big deal" was, but Grant had made a nice catch...probably some lip smacking going on...

But Grant wasn't the only one making catches on the rain soaked field....here's Rusty connecting with Cortez Gent for a nice gain...

Offensive lineman Kevin Miller says he's coming in at a tidy 335LBS right now…he and Howard got together after practice to chat a bit…you may recall Howard wanted Nick Paris to drop some weight last season and even though there was concern about it, he ended up doing quite well - even gaining some speed…

Well, Schnelley has "challenged" Miller to drop five pounds on the stationary bike…and that is the message he is delivering to Kevin below…he said they will "re-negotiate" after the five come off…IMO there will be more…Kevin doesnt look so elated…

The kicking game is something that FAU must improve in this season…alot of Hope being placed on the shoulders of this guy, #20 Ross Gornall, an SEC transfer from Auburn…he has been looking very promising thus far…

The grass was wet, but that didn't stop Jarvis Givens from sliding by the offensive line to get some pressure on Rusty, and what would have been a sure sack aside form the fact that he can't tackle the QB.......

But alas, no happy ending for now, as Givens was helped off of the field again after needing helped off after a  play in the first scrimmage Saturday before last.

Xavier Stinson readies for a draw play…he continues to look impressive when getting his number called…

Last, but not least...Howard's thoughts on where the team stands overall as of today...yes, it was sloppy for the most part...and one would think so given the wet conditions that were present...but he sees the Team about where they should be right now at this point in time, with the real "test" to come this Saturday:

Great stuff as always.

335 is BIG. He would probably be fine at 310. Hopefully he can get the weight down by the start of the season.

GO OWLS!!!

Dude is HUGE. Wow. That's awesome unless he's too slow to play well.

Miller needs to be at 310 to 315 and no more then 320. He plays better at that weight he gets over that and start to slow down. Remeber speed kills and with the backs you need guys that are quick on the line.
