Small Explores Other Options As Redskins Make No Offer
Small, who played for Florida Atlantic, was offered a tryout with the Redskins, and participated in a minicamp this past weekend.
"By all accounts, he did real well,'' agent Brett Mankey said.
But Mankey said he was told by the Redskins they had to make some adjustments to their roster. The Redskins did make a handful of moves on Monday.
"We've got to keep moving forward,'' Mankey said. "We're trying to get in some minicamps that are coming up this weekend.''
Small was not drafted after breaking his fibula in practice for a postseason All-Star game in late January. He was unable to do full workouts for teams prior to the draft, which was April 25-26.
The Green Bay Packers did not sign Immokalee High School graduate Louis Gachette, a safety who played at South Florida, on Monday. Gachette was among those on tryout agreements for the Packers in their minicamp over the weekend.
Naples High graduate Spencer Adkins, a linebacker out of Miami (Fla.) who was drafted in the sixth round by Atlanta, will participate in the Falcons' minicamp this weekend. Another Gulf Coast High grad, tight end Jake O'Connell from Miami of Ohio, will head to Kansas City for the Chiefs' minicamp. O'Connell was drafted in the seventh round.
