Kerri Croney’s two-run single in the top of the sixth inning was the big hit in Florida Atlantic’s 6-4 win over Troy at the Sun Belt Tournament on Wednesday.

Croney singled to right field, driving in Rose Gressley and Amber Barton to take a 5-3 lead. Gressley drove in Caitlyn Bliss with a single of her own earlier in the inning. FAU added a run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Bliss to drive in Ambar Jones.

Troy had runners on first and second in the bottom of the seventh inning, but could only manage a run. Kat Stauffer threw three innings in relief of Gressley for her 8th win of the season.

The Owls were the third lower seed to win on the first day of the tournament. FAU will play South Alabama in the in the final game of Day 2 at 6:30PM EST.
