Andy Mee capped one of the best statistical regular seasons in the history of SFC baseball by winning the Mid-Florida Conference Player of the Year award.

Mee, and outfielder and pitcher, hit .444 (80-for-180) with 17 doubles, three triples, seven homeruns and 58 RBI during his sophomore year. As the closer for the pitching staff, Mee has collected eight saves with 34 strikeouts in 23.1 innings pitched.

In his two years with SFC, Mee has broken numerous individual records, including batting average, .430 (153-for-356), eclipsing the record of .428 previously held by former Florida State University star and Major League Baseball player Marshall McDougall.

He also holds the record for career hits with 153, doubles with 33, the season record for batting average at .444, is fourth all time in RBI with 94 and is four hits away from breaking the single season record of 84, set by Tommy Edwards in 1985.

Mee awarded Second Team Juco All American

Andy Mee finished his Santa Fe College baseball career as one of the most prolific players in the history of the program and can now add the title of All-American to his resume.

The National Junior College Athletic Association recently announced its picks for All-Americans and Mee was selected for the Second Team. The only other state of Florida player named to the first or second team was First Team member Mycal Jones of Miami-Dade College.

During his sophomore season, Mee hit .425 and broke the school record for number of hits in a season with 96, shattering the previous high of 84, set by Tommy Edwards in 1985. He also set the record for doubles in a season with 19, breaking Greg Labbe's 1998 record of 18 and RBI in a season with 70, moving past Matt Armstrong's record of 62 set in 2001.

Mee also pitched and finished 2009 with the second most saves in a single season with 9, behind current Miami Hurricane Rene Guerra's 13, and struck out 53 batters in 36.1 innings pitched.

For his career, Mee is the SFC record holder for doubles (35), at bats (402), hits (169), is tied for first in career RBI (106) with teammate Trace Venegas and Matt Armstrong (2001-02) and is second in runs scored (99) behind teammate Tyler Cook (113).

"Andy has been our MVP the last two seasons", said SFC Coach Johnny Wiggs. "He is a great all around baseball player who deserves all of the awards he has received. We look forward to watching him continue his career at Florida Atlantic University."

Re: 2009-2010 Recruiting Class

Nice mention in the Gainesville Times about Taylor Everist…he should make an immediate contribution to the pitching staff and help FAU back to expected levels of wins and post season play:

The Florida Sun Sentinel described Everist as a "big-time starting pitcher" who "has won at every level and is expected to immediately contribute at FAU." Everist "possesses the ability both on the mound and as a natural team-leader to add a positive presence to FAU's team in 2010."
