Harbor Branch's Dolphin Festival Draws Impressive Numbers
The It’s All About The Dolphins Family Festival at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute made a big splash Saturday, drawing several thousand people from around the Treasure Coast to learn how dolphins are rescued, check out exhibits and equipment and go for pontoon boat rides.
“We’ve already gone through 3,000 bottles of water,” Ocean Discovery Center Director Jim Masterson said about three hours into the event as he looked around at the crowds lining up to get into the center, investigating the dolphin rescue ambulance and waiting for a van trip to the necropsy lab where scientists try to determine what caused the demise of various marine creatures.
The dolphin rescue, rehabilitation, research and education program at Harbor Branch, a division of Florida Atlantic University, is funded through the sale of specialty license plates.

Re: Harbor Branch's Dolphin Festival Draws Impressive Numbers
I read somewhere that at one point, Harvard and Yale were interested in Harbor Branch. Glad to see we picked them up. Between that, SeaTech and Gumbo LImbo (we have a facility there as well), we have a lot of great facilities to do marine research.
I know Brogan wants to expand our Everglades involvement too so I wouldn't be surrised if they build something over there as well (eventually).
