Pre-Season Camp Day 12...

Post

As the Fanfest inches closer, the Owls have begun to bring more and more intensity to practice and with it comes more and more competition for the spots on the two-deep.

With just one practice and just one three-a-day remaining, which is tomorrow, the players began the practice with punt and punt coverage. FAU then moved into groups for fundamentals and footwork. The receivers faced off against defensive backs then the Owls moved into both the inside and blitz drills. The final two sessions of the day was 7-on-7 and team which focused on the two minute drill. Jason Harmon was credited with scoring twice and the defense held the offense to no score the final drive of the day.

The team left the field with the incoming freshman remaining at the Tom Oxley Center for a steak diner sponsored by the South Florida Touchdown Club.

“The Miami Touchdown Club was a really special organization when I was down at the University of Miami and they still are. At that time, they welcomed the incoming freshmen and hosted the season-ending banquet and they still do. They have branched out to help FIU, UM and us. I have asked that they help make the Shula Bowl something special.”

The full team will return to the field 8 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Friday for the final three-a-day of preseason camp.

Re: Pre-Season Camp Day 12...

Well, another day of practice is in the books for FAU...quite spirited at times today with some jawing going both ways...Wiliams and Grant had back to back long TD's to spark an offense that needed something to "talk about" after last weekend.

Here's what Coach had to say:

Coach had to scoot right afterwards as they were having a TouchDown Club meeting in the Oxley Founder's room with the incoming freshmen and the "folks with deep pockets".

If one didn't see it they probably wouldn't believe it, but Rusty was without the practice jersey he has worn every season (faded #11)…and this one with no number was in it's place:

Back to some highlights...here's the back to back TD's by TEs Darrian Williams and Jamari Grant, although they happened so fast, only got part of the second:

McIntosh had an interception, on a pass that was intended for Avery Holley (#1), but fell short of the mark:

The TE's were making plays all over the field today...and FAU had the jumbo set in quite a bit with three of them on the field at once...think we might see alot of that this year...they are all talented...Jamari Grant on a curl route for a nice gain:

Re: Pre-Season Camp Day 12...

Now that is very encouraging. That's a lot of talent to have on the field at one time.
