Pre-season Camp Day 18 Notes...

The team hit the field for another cloud covered beautiful day in preparation for the season opener September 5 in Lincoln, NE versus the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers.

“All-in-all it was a good practice,” said Howard Schnellenberger, FAU’s head coach. “We have begun to put in plays for Nebraska and it is a natural tendency to pick up the speed.”

Practice opened with kick and kick returns where the Owls will look to replace DiIvory Edgecomb. Interesting combinations may begin to develop as newcomers via for a spot on the travel squad.

FAU then moved into 7-on-7 and team where Lester Jean caught the first big pass of the day. He would later welcome Amos Wood to the list of receivers to haul in a long pass. Alfred Morris had some strong carries as did Chris Jackson and Michael Barasch.

Once again, the defense was not to be out done. The line stopped the running backs deep in the backfield and Antonio Rodriguez picked off a Jeff Van Camp pass for a big return.

The team will return to the field at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, and along with the band, cheer and dance teams will make an appearance at the 2009 preseason bonfire, presented by the FAU student government.  The event begins at 8:00PM.
