Now I sure hope our coaching staff has more respect than that but it's probably never an issue since I'm sure they focus on recruiting players who are not only good athletes but "good Christians"… I'm sure when they say "athletes with good character" it's probably code for "Christians."

I was recently talking to someone who had been an athlete at a Division 1 school (don't remember which one). He has been an agnostic for years and said the coaching staff had been extremely disrespectful about his personal beliefs, even going as far as saying that if he didn't give thanks to Jesus before and after the game, he wouldn't be allowed on the field. What does religion have to do with football? It shouldn't matter if you're a good Christian, a good Jew, an atheist or a good Muslim. As long as you are a good person and you can play the game that's all that should matter.
I don't believe in Jesus that doesn't make me a bad person lol
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

FAU never has, and never will have a "mandatory policy" surrounding displays of Faith…
Which is good.

Ideally, yes. Which is why my friend's story was particularly strange.

Fake Howard
There's plenty of stories about folks being over bearing with their beliefs…especially on the highschool level where it is not policed as much…in particular, small towns with strong historical and religious roots…
But, that generally does not take place in the world of santioned athletics…
Which is a good thing, in more ways than one…
What i don't care for, just as it is not fair for someone to impose their own beliefs based on their administrative authority, is for individuals who differ from the same to try and eliminate the free right of others to do so voluntarily…
Folks should not be forced to participate, just as others should not be forced to deny expression that is voluntary in fashion…
