Re: ULM @ FAU Quick Stats...

What obviously jumps out here is once again we move the ball but fail to convert when needed…to amass 498 yards and only come away with 25 points is somewhat concerning.

But, hat's off to ULM…Polo mentioned in post game interviews that they had a completely different game plan than expected…and executed on it fully.

FAU's defense was expecting a different offensive attack in entirety, so they got thrown a major curve ball.

Re: ULM @ FAU Quick Stats...

Rick, thanks for the good and quick work (as always). I listened to the second half via the internet (after watching the first three quarters of Air Force breezing past San Diego State at sunny Falcon Stadium). Wow. One of the posts in another string said the Owls looked flat. (At the home opener?) You pointed out above that the Owls couldn't finish drives consistently. (Sadly, this no longer is a big news item.) You mentioned that a player said after the game that FAU had been fooled by the ULM game plan. (Effective halftime adjustments, anyone?) Again, wow. Despite all of that, the Owls did some very nice things and had a chance to win late – and oops, a couple of bad penalties! (Team discipline, anyone?) What conclusion can be drawn? ULM, the winner, is not Nebraska or South Carolina, so those excuses don't work this time. Next week's opponent is an up-and-down (and rebuilding) Mountain West group called the Wyoming Cowboys (2-2, including a narrow win at home today). The Cowboys generally like to run the spread. But if they conclude that they can game plan to fool the Owls like the player said ULM did, who knows?
