Spanish River I-95 Interchange delayed until 2025??

BOCA RATON -  Could it take another 15 years before Interstate 95 improvements come to Boca Raton?

That is what's projected in a long-range transportation plan by the Palm Beach Metropolitan Planning Organization. It shows no funding until 2025 for a proposed new interchange at Spanish River Boulevard and an expansion of the highway from six lanes to up to 12 lanes from Glades Road to Linton Boulevard.

But Boca Raton transportation officials are optimistic funding could come sooner. The city is eager to relieve congestion at the Glades Road interchange near Florida Atlantic University. The university is planning to build a football stadium on its campus.

Re: Spanish River I-95 Interchange delayed until 2025??

Someone at FAU and the local governments HAS TOO push for this "stimulus" money to make the I-95 improvements NOW! What a great way to add construction jobs in S FLA to counter the unemployment level, help the community and help FAU! Is everyone asleep at the wheel? Throw in just $10M for the stadium/housing (a drop in the bucket and the school will raise the rest) and think of how the Boca/FAU area will be upgraded and of the thousands of jobs created!
Sad to think I graduated from FAU with my degree in Urban and Regional Planning in '79 but I don't see much if any proactive action going on down there to go after and secure these funds for totally legitimate uses, I hope I am wrong but no action usually means no effort!
I know I posted this response on another thread but it's gotta be said and it's gotta be done. I mean 2025????? What a joke!

Spanish River I-95 Interchange delayed until 2025??

So much those shovel ready projects that are supposed to put people to work, and get the economy going. This is probably close to a 2 to 3 year project that would definitely help stimulate the economy and makes sense. I got sick at hearing about these pet peeve projects for some politician to build some BS that affects a handful of people instead of a project like this that affects thousands. Build the damn thing, this falls into the legitimate criteria for stimulus.
