"It’s a judgment call by the official,” Dodge said. “I thought it [the pass] was uncatchable and that if pass interference was the call that they would come back and say the pass was uncatchable. It was a surprise to see a hold called. Everyone has their opinions on things, but that is part of the game. We shouldn’t have put ourselves in that position.”

Coach Dodge is correct in the final portion of his statement. North Texas should not have put itself in that position in the first place. Too often, coaches complain bitterly about what they see as a bad call in the final minutes of a game affecting the outcome – after they already had 55 minutes or so to put the thing away so a bad call late wouldn't make any difference. Take care of business for the whole game, friends, and things usually work out just fine.
I agree completely. A bad call only makes a difference if a team doesn't play well enough to win to begin with. I never bought into the idea of blaming a loss on officiating or on a dumb penalty for that matter. The outcome of a game is the result of 60 minutes of play, not one or two plays.
