Men's Soccer: Owls Fall to FIU 2-0

The Florida Atlantic men’s soccer team fell to Florida International 2-0 on Monday night  in their final non-conference match of the season.  The loss drops the Owls to three games under .500 for the first time this season as FAU is winless in their last five matches.

The Owls (4-7-2) were led on offense by sophomore forward Darnell King who tallies four shots in the game.  Thorstein Georgsson and Rocco Pecora also recorded two shots each in the loss for FAU.

Florida International (5-9-0) took a 1-0 first half lead in the 26th minute when Steven Cabas scored his sixth goal of the season on a penalty kick.  The Panthers put the game out of reach in the 85th minute when Seabastian Frings tallied his eighth marker of the season to put FIU ahead 2-0.

Ciro Martinez started in net for FAU and made two saves in the loss.  Phillip Lamarre also made two saves for FIU in the shutout.

The Owls will be back in action on Sunday afternoon when they return to FAU Soccer Stadium in search of their first conference win against Northern Illinois.  Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 pm.
