Team will Face Nation’s Best This Weekend
Florida Atlantic University’s cheer team will participate in the UCA College Cheerleading Nationals on Saturday, January 16 and Sunday, January 17 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando.
The weekend event is the largest College Cheerleading Competition in the world, and the Owls will face the best teams in the country. FAU received an invitation for the event after submitting a video demonstrating the team’s top tumbling and stunting skills, as well as the team leading the fans in a traditional FAU cheer. FAU scored a perfect 15 on the video, which took more than three months to produce and offered them the right to advance to nationals.
Heather Henderson, head cheer coach and choreographer, will lead the team. Since Henderson’s arrival at FAU, the squad has grown from a 16 member all-girl team to more than 40 members divided into a co-ed and an all-girl team. The two teams will compete in the Division I category.

How did they end up finishing.
Per FAU:
The co-ed squad was second out of 15 after the semifinals and were one of two SBC schools to advance to the Finals. Following finals they finished 9th.
The all-girl team missed advancing to the finals by one, only the top seven went.
