FAU Softbal Falls to Kentucky 4-1

Florida Atlantic freshman Taylor Fawbush returned to the mound less than 24 hours from holding one SEC team to one hit to face another SEC member, this time falling 4-1 to Kentucky.

Fawbush held Mississippi to one hit and picked up her first collegiate victory late Saturday night. She was given the start in Sunday’s 1 p.m. match-up against Kentucky, who entered the game 4-0 in the tournament. Fawbush walked the first batter, who later scored, and held the Wildcats hitless through two. The third inning Fawbush allowed two runs to score and gave up three of her four total hits allowed on the day. The freshman was relieved by Rose Gressley who pitched the final two innings. Gressley allowed just one hit and no runs but the Owls fell to Kentucky 4-1.

Offensively, the Owls managed just three hits with Blair Bodenmiller and Gressley hitting doubles. A Gressley single accounted for the third Owl hit.

FAU will next face Loyola 4 p.m. Friday and will follow it up Providence. The Owls are hosting their second tournament in as many weeks.
