Spring Scrimmage II 04-17-10: D Wins Again & Post Game Comments

Well, number two is in the books, the defense has struck again to the tune of 27-18. They were aggressive, focused, and determined throughout the session disrupting timing and routes. The result was timing infractions by the offense and penalties that kept them grounded on the south end of the field for most of the session.

"We've never had the defense win two in a row for the last five years", said LB Michael Lockley afterwards.

DISCLAIMER: Could not confirm that with FAU, but if it's true, that would be a feat.

Granted scrimmages are often pre-ordained into helping the weaker unit progress, but did not see that either this weekend or last for that matter.

The two units are battling full tilt, as there is more on the line that just a final score.  Positions are still somewhat up for grabs, and that seems to be adding extra motivation.

Coach Schnellenberger chalked up the defenses edge to that of having experience over a younger offensive unit:

With just three practice sessions left before next week's Spring Game, QB Jeff Van Camp is ready to buckle down and get the last one.

"There wasn't a lot of positives to take out of today", said Van Camp, who was 16-29 for 211 yards and 2 TD. "We're gonna continue to work hard and come out next Saturday and get the win."
