Inside the Warhawks Dugout

  • [li]"The Warhawks are coming off one of their best offensive weeks of the season…batting .368 as a team and averaged 12 runs and 14.3 hits in their four games last week. Seven players hit over .300, five hit over .400 and two hit over .500 for the week.[/li]
    [li]Kelvin York led the way batting .533 with a double, three home runs, six runs scored, 11 RBIs and teammate Nick Wade was close behind batting .526 with four doubles, two home runs, six runs scored, nine RBIs.[/li]
    [li]York, who had eight RBIs in the series finale at South Alabama, was named Sun Belt Player of the Week on Monday.  He enters this weekend's play first in the Sun Belt averaging 1.4 RBIs per game and second with 20 RBIs in conference games.[/li]
    [li]Drew Granier will make his second straight Friday night start for the Warhawks. The junior right-hander is averaging 8.5 strikeouts per nine innings and will be making his team-leading 10th start of the season."[/li]

Inside the Owls Dugout
  • [li]The Owls head into Friday night contest riding a 5-game winning streak, which featured a three-game sweep of No. 19 Western Kentucky last weekend.[/li]
    [li]Dan Scheffler leads the Owls at the plate batting .422 with 16 doubles, 11 home runs and 46 RBIs.[/li]
    [li]Andy Mee continue to perform well as well, holds a .385 average with a team leading 62 hits with 12, double, 6 home runs and 32 RBIs.[/li]
    [li]From the toe runner, Mee registered his 8th against the Hilltoppers to complete the sweep on Sunday and sports a 1.76 ERA.[/li]
    [li]There is currently six Owls hitting above .300 and a combined .308 average while opponents are hitting for a .281 average.[/li]

Friday's opening game between FAU and ULM has been rained out due to inclement weather.

The teams will resume the series on Saturday and play a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. eastern.

RHP Ryan Garton (4-1, 4.70) and RHP Mike Gipson (6-1, 2.91) will starts for FAU.

RHP Drew Granier (3-4, 6.92) and RHP James Jones (3-4, 5.85) are the probable Saturday starters for ULM.

The series will conclude on Sunday morning at 11 a.m eastern.

The Owls took the lead back (after the Warhawks tied it at 1) in the top of the 4th only to see the Warhawks storm back with three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-3 lead and with only one out & men at the corners  :'(

This could become a slug fest…the Warhawks end-up scoring 5 in the 4th & the Owls score 3 in the 5th to tie it at 6.

Owls took the early lead in the second game only to see the Warhawks score 3 in the 5th to go up by two.

The Owls use a single by Mee, a walk & hit batsmen combined with an RBI sac. fly by Burkhalter to cut the lead to 1.

The 'Hawks get the run back in the bottom of the inning to bring their lead back to two.  :(
