Talking Baseball with Coach McCormack:
[br]
Inside the Knights Dugout
- [li]The Knights have lost their last three conference series…to Rice, Marshall (were swept by) and this past weekend to Memphis and are 4-6 in their last ten games.[/li]
[li]First baseman Jonathan Griffin (.295) holds the hot bat for the Knights. In the past 14 games has managed at least two hits in eight of those outings, along with three home runs and went 20-for-55 for a .364 average.[/li]
[li]Another Knight that had came alive in April was catcher Beau Taylor, the Freshman All-American went 31-for-78 for a .397 average in that stretch, driving in 17 runs while scoring 21. Taylor is riding a 12-game hitting streak.[/li]
[li]The Knight are on pace to break last year record of 68 home runs, having pounded 63 home runs so far this season moving closer to that record. [/li]
[li]Freshman Joe Rogers is 3-0 with a 1.40 ERA and four saves outside of C-USA, as opposing teams have a combined 8.38 ERA against the Knights offense.[/li]
[li]The Knights are riding their longest non-conference winning stretch which sits at 11, includes wins against five different Florida programs (Miami, South Florida, Stetson, Bethune-Cookman, North Florida).[/li]
[br]
Inside the Owls Dugout
- [li]The Owls have become one of the hottest teams in the country, going 11-1 in its last 12 outings, having just swept their second conference foe this past weekend in Arkansas State and then #19 Western Kentucky back on April 16-17.[/li]
[li]Mike Gipson was named the SBC "Pitcher of the Week" after going the distance in Saturday's 8-0 victory over Arkansas State to complete his second shutout of the season.[/li]
[li]The Owls continue to get outstanding production from Dan Scheffler (.404, 13 HR) and Andy Mee (.393, 75 H), while the pitching staff claims a 4.58 ERA with 321 strikeouts in 389.1 innings[/li]
[li]The Owls are hitting .310 as a team while holding opponents to a .217 average. Four players are hitting above .300…Scheffler (.404), Mee (.393), DelGuidice (.327) & Cassidy (.307). Both Church & Pittman sit at (.298).[/li]
[li]The Owls have belted 48 home runs on the season, while allowing 43 to opponents.[/li]
Quote of the Day: From Coach McCormack on Burkhalter coming off the bench to help cement the Sweep of ASU on Sunday:
"That was big time, he [Burkhalter] sat on the bench for some 26 innings jumps in the bottom of the 8th and got the job done. That is what we needed, these guys are given opportunities and they seem to come through and do it. That was a total team effort."

Re: Game Thread: UCF vs FAU
Everist struggled with his control a bit in the 2nd…gave the Knights three bases on walks, combined with a single & a wild pitch spotted the Knights two runs to tie things up.
