After taking Monday off for Independence Day, FAU players returned to the practice fields Wednesday afternoon for unorganized team activities. An hour long session of 7-on-7 took place between the offense and defense, which was highlighted by some defensive plays.
Tarvoris Hill undercut a Graham Wilbert slant-pass to wide receiver Byron Hankerson and intercepted the ball, which was good enough for the play of the day. Wilbert continued to struggle and was intercepted again by Marcus Bartels in the middle of the field.
The secondary overall looked strong, and a player that stood out for them was redshirt freshman Keith Reaser. Reaser played with the number ones, until Tavious Polo showed up from class and took his spot. That could develop into a nice position battle come fall camp as Reaser is developing.
Offensively, fullback Xavier Stinson made some catches out of the backfield and turned them up the field for big yards. Wide receiver Avery Holley looked very elusive as well, grabbing many of Jeff Van Camp’s passes and gaining additional yards after the catch. Both of those two could be big for the Owls this season.
The defensive line was also out on the field, working with tires and tackling dummies under the leadership of senior lineman Daniel Joseph.
“This gives us that extra work we need. Everyone runs and works out, but it’s the extra stuff that we do with our techniques that helps.” Joseph explained.
Joseph mentioned that he had looked up most of the workouts and drills online, and then brought them to the practice field.
At the conclusion of the activities, Hankerson and senior wide receiver Lester Jean stayed for an additional half-hour to work on catching passes and footwork. It appears Jean might be taking the younger Hankerson under his wing. Both players mentioned that they have been running hills in the nearby area for strength training as well.
FAU will continue its offseason 7-on-7 workouts next Monday.

Did Stephen Curtis and Nick Bracewell throw with the other QBs? If so, any comments on those guys?
I saw Bracewell in the Oxley Center today, but him and Curtis were not out throwing the ball.
I do know that both of them, along with Blake Parrish and Alex DeLeon are particpating in team workouts with Coach Payne.
