Campus Recreation Building Tour...

Stopped by to visit with Mike Burdman today for some info on the 2010 Bonfire and other matters, and he was kind enough to provide a tour of the new recreation facility after our meeting; although it’s not really "new" now…but for me it was, and can’t believe how nice the place is…very well done!

The official site is Here, with lots of photos, but decided to take some more to share…

The minute you walk in, it is branded with an Owl logo within the stone floor in the lobby…

The building is very modern as shown in this view of the lobby area…

Along the northern portion of the facility are the cardio and weight rooms…wouldn’t really call them rooms, aside from the general term itself…they are quite spacious with plenty of area and equipment…below is the cardio section…if anyone was around when the old facility adjacent to the aquatic complex was the only option, you know how much better this one is…

The section is equipped with lots of TV’s to make the workout more enjoyable…not to mention a bird’s eye view of the new stadium grounds…

Down the hall is the weight area…again, very spacious and loaded with the latest equipment…

In the eastern portion of the facility lies the pool area…loads of lounge chairs to layout and catch some rays…and, like the entry, it is equipped with an Owl logo…

It also has some lanes for those who like to swim in “training” fashion…here’s a broad view of the pool itself…

Heading back inside from the pool area, along the southern portion, are the locker rooms…of course we only went into the men’s…and there are 400 lockers or so available for rental…right now the estimated occupancy is 35%…you can imagine what that will be come the end of August – full.  But there is some good news in that they have daily lockers on hand for those who don’t want to rent one for the semester…

Re: Campus Recreation Building Tour...

What recreation facility would be complete without some basketball/indoor soccer courts?  They have three…two are open, and one is “private” with a door…just so happens Owls’ QB Jeff VanCamp was hooping it up this afternoon on the private court…

Last, but not least, there are two Fitness Studios dedicated to dance and spinning classes…

Class was in session in one of them, so we did not want to interrupt…
