Florida Atlantic University’s baseball team has been out of action since early June, however on Wednesday night one of the rising stars of the program will be on display in one of the most historic venues in all of sports, Fenway Park.
Freshman RHP R.J. Alvarez (Bourne Braves) has earned a spot in Wednesday’s Cape Cod League All-Star Game scheduled for 7 p.m. at Fenway Park in Boston. The game can be seen live on CBS College Sports.
The Royal Palm Beach native has compiled two victories in 12 appearances for Bourne. Alvarez has only allowed two earned runs in 18.2 relief innings pitched to go along with 23 strikeouts.
Alvarez was 3-1 with a 5.10 ERA in 16 appearances for FAU in 2010 and helped the Owls earn their first NCAA Regional bid since 2005 and the program’s ninth overall.
