The team hit the field early again today in anticipation of inclimate weather, but was able to get in a full session with only some rain occurring midway through.
“The day worked out,” said Coach Schnellenberger. “I was almost sure we were in for a big one. But what I saw on the internet did not materialize.”
FAU began with punt returns and then moved into individual drills where they stayed for nearly 25 minutes. Sessions were devoted to installing both the run and pass. Nexon Dorvilus had another big catch. During team drills it was Damian Fortner that had the big play. Defensively, senior Tavious Polo had a pass break-up and Michael Lockley delivered a big hit on newcomer Jerrard Hunter.
“The quarterbacks and wide receivers are not looking as good because the defense is standing closer than they have ever been. The defense is hounding them. That will help us in the short and long haul,” added Schnellenberger.
Senior TE Rob Housler continues to struggle with his catches, while DeAndre Richardson, who we said this about back in April, is raising his stock towards a depth chart call.
Practice resumes tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. in half pads. The team will hold their first scrimmage on Friday.
Injury notes:
C Jordan Sessa was announced as having suffered a knee sprain.
FB Xavier Stinson is listed as day to day.
