Offensive efficiency was a problem for the Owls as the Hilltoppers enjoyed a 39.7% to 13.5% advantage in kill percentage.
FAU Senior Anne Vaughan led the Owls with eight points.
Florida Atlantic fell behind early in each set, and could not catch up to the Hilltoppers (14-4, 3-0).
Joanne Marras Tate had 22 assists and nine digs on the match for the Owls.
FAU will face off against Middle Tennessee tomorrow night at 8 p.m. in the second of a three match road trip.
