History Repeating

Post

An odd little fact about FAU's brief football history. Since our inception in 2001, FAU has had two losing seasons, followed by two winning seasons. So if history is any indication, we will finish 2010 with a losing record.

2001 4-6
2002 2-9

2003 11-3
2004 9-3

2005 2-9
2006 5-7

2007 8-5
2008 7-6

Re: History Repeating

This is a perfect example of how cyclical football is. Ohio State, Miami, Florida State, USC…TEXAS! Every one of these powerhouse schools goes through a cycle of not being as dominant as they were before. We're the same way, just not quite at that level. It's part of the game, it sucks right now though.

Great point CO. It really makes sense though. We started in 2000 with 24 scholarship players and the rest walk-ons. We didn't play that year, but add 4-5 years (typical players eligibility length) and you have a bunch of seniors leaving in 2004. and the cycle starts again…5+5 and here we are now perhaps.

For fun I looked up the scholarship players for 2005. Ted had published the list…some solid and familiar names on there:

Flip Flop Football | Look back at FAU class of 2005; Mary Carey Pic of Day

-Go Owls…Forever FAU!

Re: History Repeating

This just means 2011 (the year of the on-campus stadium and potentially Schnelly's final season coaching) should be a winning season for FAU!
