UNT fires Dodge

Post

No shock here.  He was the wrong choice from the start and was a complete failure.  Of course, 1 of his 6 career wins was against us this season….

Is it 2011 yet??

Would not be surprised if Mario Cristobal gets axed soon either.

UNT fires Dodge

He's got a couple wins under his belt in conference now and looks like he may salvage himself for more time unless they self implode the rest of the way out…but a long term contract is out of the question right now, IMO.

They may keep him around for a 2 year stint, but still be able to bail if he whiffs next year.

Re: UNT fires Dodge

We should offer him our OC position.

Dodge was a good high school coach and that what he is. Let's wish him good luck in the Texas high school circuit.

You're right.

Dodge's spread offense registered 24.8 points and 408.4 total yards per game and was widely praised

FAU is currently LAST in the SunBelt in offense.  His Defense was terrible, but there is no question about his offensive coaching abilities.

Re: UNT fires Dodge

Last weeks loss to FIU did in fact prove to be the dagger:

"UNT athletic director Rick Villarreal set down at mandate that Dodge win seven games this season to keep his job. Dodge had a shot after beating Florida Atlantic on the road Sept. 25.

The Mean Green had a three-game home stand following its win over the Owls, but lost all three games while struggling with a series of injuries that played a key role in yet another down season."
