"A cheating scandal at the University of Central Florida was featured this morning on Good Morning America.

Nearly 600 students in a senior-level business course at UCF are retaking a mid-term exam after Professor Richard Quinn was tipped off to cheating.

Cheaters who step forward will get an opportunity to attend an ethics seminar."

The professor is kicking arse and taking names!

75% of the 200 have already come forward...

I can't believe you'd be stupid enough to go on TV and say that…how did that kid get into college?

Re: UCF Cheats

Now that I have the "shoe on the other foot" as a faculty member teaching college-level students, I am trying to find ways to keep my exams fair, but to not encourage cheating. I often give a study guide as to what will be on the exam, and focus more on practical applications of the material, rather than definitions. It seems to be working.

Students have been very receptive to the idea of writing short essay answers to questions such as "As a sport manager, how would you manage a change in your organization dealing with A,B,C."

It's a shame that this happened to the UCF faculty member. It's not fair - especially if the faculty member is someone like me who pours their heart and soul into teaching, and then to see it go out of the window to some students… it would make me sick too.
