Women’s Basketball Tripped Up by Kennesaw State
“Our team didn’t come out how I expected,” said head coach Chancellor Dugan. “I didn’t think we were intense to start the game.”
Kennesaw State held a 35-23 lead at halftime after FAU turned the ball over 11 times in the opening stanza.
Four minutes into the second half FAU found themselves facing their largest deficit at 40-27. However the Owls responded and rattled off 10 straight points to pull within three.
After FAU’s run, Kennesaw State opened the lead back up to 49-37 but again could not hold on. The home team pushed it back to a one-point game with 39 seconds remaining.
A turnover by Teri Stamps after an inbound pass with 14 seconds left led to two Kennesaw free throws, extending their lead to 65-62.
Vontrice Dennis had another strong game for FAU and posted her second straight double-double with16 points and 14 rebounds.
Breana Turner and Latavia Dempsey each added eight points and Teri Stamps recorded a game-high five assists.
FAU next hits the road to take on Jacksonville on Wednesday.
